FrightFest London is back once again, now in it's 12th year to fill your weekend with scary, gory, horrific and frightening films. With several premieres and some fantastic horror flicks from all over the world to sink your teeth into, the Film 4 FrightFest is set to be a full on festival of gore.

Bank Holiday FrightFest
London gets its socks scared off once again as the annual film festival is held over the August Bank Holiday, making the Film 4 Fright Fest is the perfect end to the summer. With loads of fantastically scary films and some of the best classic horror movies ever to have been made for the big screen, you will be spoilt for choice. Whether it's zombies, knife wielding maniacs, monsters, ghosts, vampires, spooky murderous children or just plain old cannibals, there is something horrific and heart stoppingly unpleasant for everyone.

Special screenings
And it's not just your average blood and gore that will be screening during the fright fest. You can also expect animations, sci fi and short films too. Celebrating its 12th anniversary in style, this year the film festival opens with the UK premiere of Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, which features some of the most nightmarish creatures thanks to co-writr/producer Guillermo del Toro, and will also show a number of films by up and coming stars of the horror genre on the Discovery Screen. FrightFest London really does have the weirdest and most peculiar horror films going, so check out the exciting offerings in the 2011 programme.

World cinema
Films from all over the world are screening at the Empire Leicester Square cinema during the 2011 festival, including contributions from America, Scotland, Japan, Spain and South Korea. This year's world cinema offering includes Finnish Troll Hunter; Swiss revenge movie Sennentuntschi: Curse of the Alps; German thriller Urban Explorers, and American horror Final Destination 5.

Grand finale
Still not satisfied by all the blood and guts? The final day of the festival promises a grand finale of spine tingling horror. The 2011 festival bows out with a variety of great films including the UK premiere of A Lonely Place to Die, directed by Julien Gilbey and featuring a cast of mountaineers who find a small girl trapped inside the chamber in the ground.
