First of all i would like to say that im gay and i think both G-A-Y bars are fantastic i normally go to both of them.
I went on the other day with friends to see Atomic Kitten and went i went to be Bar one of my friends was "drunk" and one of the security guys didnt let him in but i went back n i told them that we was fine, he was with me n i wud make sure that he wudnt do any problems, so they let him in. So me personnaly dont think that the security guys or any of the staff at G-A-Y are arogant or rude (but yes i no everyone has their opinion) but anyway i dont care what people say about G-A-Y im still going there as usual.
Went there this past Saturday, great atmosphere inside, I was nervous to go to a gay club being a straight female, but I still had a great time! Men outnumber women 20:1, but everyone in the club was very friendly, and dancing on the stage was fun. Great music as well (and I'm picky!) stuff you can really dance to. About the security people... I only got asked "how much have you had to drink tonight?" and that's about it I think. The security people that searched me were annoying and kept asking me to empty my pockets in a rude way. Nothing too bad though. Anyway, the place is massive with three big screens showing videos and there were no less than 3 balloon-drops inside of two hours, LOVE IT
Let's get one thing straight here - the staff are rude beyond belief.
I've been to GAY a few times and found myself on the recieving end of some rude question's. I am a paying customer and I should not be treated that way.
Once you've talked yourself in, the interior is best described as dingy.
However.... the music and atmosphere will blow you away.
It's a great place to dance with the girls and the drinks are really reasonable.
It is worth the hassle getting in, but such rudeness is intolerable so I'm rating this down.
A great night out, but they need to replace their doorstaff soon as.
I went to see The Feeling at the Astoria and had an amazing night. We only paid £7.00 to get in and for that got a night of clubbing as well as seeing the band - bargain! I will definitely be going back as some of the line-ups they have are awesome and it's so cheap.
I went to G-A-Y once, a while back with my friend. We found it very easy to get in. I went later on in the year and they said it was members only which I think is ridiculous. I feel that everyone has the right to go to any bar or club that they wish and shouldn't be refused if they aren't members.
When I first went to G-A-Y, I had a fab time but I must say, just because it is a gay club does not mean that it is has to be gays only, as people may want to go with gay friends.
I would like to agree with what everone else is saying about the G-A-Y @ London Astoria and G-A-Y late bar, in respect to the horrendous attitude that the door staff/bouncers have at these two places.
It's disgusting the way that they talk to their customers. I have tried to get into G-A-Y @ London Astoria several times with friends of mine who are also gay and have been turned away as we are not regulars or members. This is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever heard and seen, as I know for a fact that you don't have to be either to gain entry to these bars/clubs.
In my opinion it is a case of, if your face does not fit or if you are a lesbian group then you are not welcome. Stick G-A-Y up your arse!
I am so happy that I am not the only one who has been on the receiving end of these rude bouncers at G-A-Y. The security guys asked me "where are you from" and “How much money will you be spending here". They were so rude at G-A-Y.
G-A-Y @ London Astoria is a good place, but the security guys are so rude! Because of them my girl mates did not want to get in any more!
The manager of G-A-Y @ London Astoria should really take a notice of how the security guys are treating their customers!
