The Gabriel Orozco exhibition London event takes place at Tate Modern during spring 2011 and explores the work of this major Mexican artist. Renowned around the world for his contemporary sculpture, the retrospective exhibition shows his passion for western and Latin American art and his seemingly endless ways of reinventing everyday objects.

Gabriel Orozco exhibition
London is playing host to several major modern art exhibitions throughout 2011, but this one is certain to set the benchmark for the rest. With over 80 works and a brand new installation on show at the Tate Modern, the Gabriel Orozco exhibition showcases sculpture, photography, drawing and painting.

Innovative creations
Taking over the gallery with his innovative and experimental art, the Gabriel Orozco exhibition features some of his most famous creations. Renowned for his ability to alter both man-made and found objects to create a new and playful alternatives, visitors to the show will be able to see prime examples of his boundless experimentation. La DS from 1993 sees a classic Citroen DS car which has had the middle section removed by Orozco to make the vehicle slimmer and more streamlined.

Exhibition highlights
Other examples of his unusual approach to sculpture appear in the show, including Black Kites, which features a human skull inscribed with a geometric pattern, and Horses Running Endlessly, which consists of a chess set that uses only knights instead of the full range of playing pieces. Influenced by his travels and the relationships he has formed to various homes in Mexico City, Costa Rica, Brazil, New York and Paris, the Gabriel Orozco exhibition features works that reflect his life in the various cities and the cultures he has encountered there.
