Gay Icons exhibition London
Featuring 60 photographs of people whom the selectors believe have made a significant contribution to gay culture and history, the Gay Icons exhibition London event celebrates both gay and straight men and women who are the personal inspiration for the guest curators of the show. Coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots in New York that are widely credited with kickstarting the gay rights movement, this is the first major exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery to exclusively feature gay people and gay icons.
The selectors
The ten individials who have selected the figures to feature in the Gay Icons exhibition London event at the National Potrait Gallery include the celebrated actor Ian McKellen, and the world famous pop star Elton John.
