Fed up with all the glamour and the glitz of Gay Pride? Then head to the annual festival of masculine misery as Gay Shame 2008 invites you to keep a stiff upper lip and dress like a fat darts player.
Held at the Coronet, Gay Shame is the antidote to the flamboyance and extravagance of the Gay Pride parade - with seven different rooms, 30 stalls and 50 artists all vying to make you into a "real" man, there is plenty of fun to be had. Collect your 9 bob notes from the door and spend them in the Gay Shame marketplace that is has been transformed into a nightclub with the aesthetics of a mini cab office - mostly brown, stained, smelly and with no discerning feminine touches whatsoever.
Dozens of interactive features will test your masculinity with topics like fighting, football, boxing, boozing and betting, and all the artists will help you in your quest to abandon effeminate homosexuality, and become seriously macho. Making the night morefilled with Y chromosomes than ever before will be the likes of Amy Lame, Scottee, Bearlesque, Timberlina, The Lauderettas, Miss High Leg Kick and Dominic Johnson. DJ entertainment will be provided by Readers Wifes, Lush, and Father Cloth.
Tickets for Gay Shame 2008 are available on the night, or they can be bought in advance from The Retro Bar, George Court off The Strand.
Gay Shame 2008 takes place on Saturday 5th July 2008 at The Coronet, New Kent Road from 9pm onwards.
