Are you a punch and cocktail connoisseur? Then you'll love this larger than life drinks event from Courvoisier, which arrives in the form of the Courvoisier giant architectural punch bowl. The latest creation from jellymongers extraordinaire Bompas & Parr, the drinkable arts installation is open for just three days.

Courvoisier punch
So big that you can row a boat across it, the Courvoisier architectural punch bowl is a feat of design and technological skill located at the exclusive and elegant 33 Portland Place. The brainchild of architectural and culinary experts Bompas & Parr, the giant punch bowl is filled with the winning punch recipe from the competition that was open to mixologists, architects and amateur drinks enthusiasts alike.

Festive nights
One of the most stylish and innovative pop up events in the run up to Christmas, the Courvoisier architectural punch bowl takes its inspiration from the decadent traditions of the past. The spicy, fruity and fizzy punch that fills the drinkable installation at 33 Portland Place is titled the Emperor's Shrub, and includes the smooth cognac blend VSOP Courvoisier Exclusif, pomegranate juice and cranberry juice for a warming and festive addition to your winter evening.

Historical precedent
The Courvoisier architectural punch bowl installation is certainly a unique event for London, but it does have an historical precedent. In 1694, Admiral Edward Russell created an enormous punch bowl so big that the punch that filled it contained 2,500 lemons and was served up to guests by a young boy in a boat. The Bompas & Parr installation continues this grand old tradition of throwing a good party for all as guests at the 2009 event will also be able to climb on board a rowing boat and make their way across the surface of the winning drink.

Charity event
The expert panel of judges who have decided which punch recipe will fill the Bompas & Parr punch bowl include food historian Ivan Day, Stephen Gage of UCL, Lars Tharp of The Foundling Museum and Lisa Ellwood, editor of View London. Musician and famous foodie Alex James has also acted as a taste consultant. Visitors to the installation are able to row across the punch bowl as well as sample a glass of the winning punch. Money raised from the event will go to Article 25, a charity that gives architectural and building advice to aid agencies and NGOs in disaster situations.

The Courvoisier architectural punch bowl is open to the public at 33 Portland Place from Tuesday 8th December - Thursday 10th December 2009. Tickets cost £6.50 and are available to buy now; for more information and to purchase tickets, click on the link below.
