Supersize slices
There's not many people who would say no to free cake, but there's plenty to go around at the Covent Garden piazza this summer. Celebrating the 180th anniversary of the iconic Market Building, the giant birthday cake at Covent Garden is being carved up so that up to 2,000 visitors can enjoy a slice.

Birthday treat
With plenty of candles adorning the giant birthday cake at Covent Garden, you may well feel moved to sing a round of Happy Birthday to the iconic Market Building. The huge cake is being cut from 12.30pm, so make sure you arrive at the piazza in plenty of time to join the front of the queue for some free cake.

Anniversary celebrations
As well as the giant birthday cake at Covent Garden, there are also plenty of other free events taking place to celebrate the venue's 180th anniversary. Visitors can see a giant ice sculpture, sign a huge birthday card, take part in party games and enjoy a series of street performances, a film screening and more.
