To celebrate the approaching 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand, the ground between City Hall and Tower Bridge will play host to a giant rugby ball in London this autumn. Measuring a massive 25 metres long and 17 metres wide, the ball is big enough to hold up to 220 people. Events inside the London giant rugby ball follow the kooky structure's appearance beneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris last year.

Rugby madness
Kick starting the run up to the 2011 Rugby World Cup, the giant rugby ball is destined to create a buzz around the Tower Bridge area. The impressive sight of this temporary venue standing big and proud on Potters Fields Park will be matched by the series of fun and free events held inside the giant rugby ball.

London catches Kiwi fever
Rugger fans visiting the giant rugby ball in London will be treated to a stunning audio-visual show which gives a taster of the beautiful landscape and rich culture of New Zealand. The Maori people will also be strongly represented, especially at the official opening ceremony on Tuesday 25th November. Prior to the giant rubgy ball being opened to the general public, London Mayor Boris Johnson will take part in a traditional Maori ceremony to welcome this latest addition to Potters Fields Park.

Haka workshop
Visitors will have the chance to join in the fun themselves in the haka workshop held in the giant rugby ball by Maori cultural group Manaia at 10.30am on Sunday 30th November. Local schools and the general public can stomp and roar in the traditional Kiwi way to get in the mood for the Rugby World Cup and all the joy and pageantry it brings. Although the event is free, booking is essential. If you would like to take part in the haka workshop, email nzrugbyball@tnz.govt.nz.

Countdown
One of the top London events at the giant rugby ball will be the IRB pool allocation draw for the 2011 World Cup. A must for all true rugby fans, this draw brings the next clash of the ruby nations a step closer.

The giant rugby ball will be on Potters Fields Park by Tower Bridge and is open to the public Wednesday 26th - Friday 28th November 11am - 5pm, Sunday 30th November 11am - 5pm, and Tuesday 2nd December 11am - 3pm. Admission is free.
