Artistic director of the Donmar Warehouse, Michael Grandage, will be making his long-awaited operatic debut, sprinkling his directorial magic on one of opera’s best-loved pieces.
The Rake’s Progress
The second Glyndebourne at Somerset House screening is Igor Stravinsky’s take on the classic Faustian morality tale, The Rake’s Progress. Always one of the most popular operas at Glyndebourne, this version of The Rake’s Progress will once again see John Cox and David Hockney return to recreate their acclaimed 1975 production, promising another stunning evening of opera at Somerset House.
Hansel and Gretel
The final Glyndebourne screening at Somerset House comes from Engelbert Humperdinck’s celebrated take on the classic fairytale, Hansel and Gretel. This one is perfect for all the family, full of amusing jokes, enchanting sets and a feel-good ending that makes it enticingly accessible for everyone, whether they’re 8 or 80.
