A solid gold Kate Moss statue is on show at the British Museum as part of the Statuephilia exhibition. Created by Marc Quinn who cast the supermodel in a yoga pose back in 2006, this new sculpture of Kate Moss is sure to be one of the most popular exhibits.

Labelled Siren, the larger than life gold Kate Moss statue is similar to the previous work Sphinx, but is considerably larger and more shiny than the older sculpture. Cast in solid gold, the Kate Moss statue weighs 50 kilograms and is worth around £1.5 million, making it a just tribute to one of the world's most wealthy supermodels.

The statue is part of a collection of modern sculpture that makes up the Statuephilia exhibition on show at the British Museum until the 25th January 2009. Following on from the likes of the Terracotta Army exhibition which was the hit exhibition of early 2008, this is not the first time that the museum has been taken over by larger than life sculptures.

Amongst the artists that have contributed to the exhibition, Marc Quinn's gold Kate Moss statue sits alongside the likes of 200 skulls from Damien Hirst, Antony Gormley's study for the Angel of the North and a giant head from Ron Mueck. Scattered throughout the museum, the giant pieces of sculpture are located in different galleries, each within a location that is relevant to them.

A renowned icon of contemporary beauty, you can see the gold Kate Moss statue in the Nerieid Gallery, where beauties from the Greek and Ancient Egyptian periods reside. Fittingly, the room is not just a reflection of iconic beauty, but the new golden statue from Marc Quinn is also amongst the only other solid gold statues that are comparable in size, and in fact Siren is the largest gold statue to be created since the Ancient Egyptians time.

Making its premiere at the British Museum, the statue of Kate Moss will no doubt be on the to do list of many fashion and art fans in the city throughout the duration of the exhibition. With her fashion collections at Topshop, her revealing role in a Agent Provocateur advert and her constant presence in the media, Kate Moss is a ever present figure in the modern world. Having made the leap to artists' model in 2006 with the original Siren statue, she has now been transformed once more, and this time with the Midas touch.

The gold Kate Moss statue is on show at the British Museum as part of the Statuephilia exhibition, and is located in the Nereid Gallery on the ground floor, and entrance is free.
