Where

Square Mile

The Great City Race is upon London once more as the boys and girls from the City turn out to do some seriously competitive running. Back once again for the sixth year in a row, the Great City Race not only provides some sporting fun for onlookers, but gives workers the chance to race against other companies in a bid to be the best.

Great City Race London
Taking place in the City of London's Square Mile, the Great City Race is a 5km run that sees teams of four or more runners from companies giving it their all against the clock and each other. With 6,500 workers from nearly 400 companies taking part in 2009, you can be sure that there will be even more competitive offices out there determined to be the winner on the running track as well as in the boardroom.

Race route
Kicking off at the Honourable Artillery Company on City Road, the Great City Race takes in 5 kilometres of the City roads, heading down Moorgate, along London Wall and Old Broad Street, down Cheapside, up St Martins Le Grand, Gresham Street and back along London Wall before heading once again to the Honorable Artilery Company. Taking in much of the City, the route also takes runners past some very famous landmarks, including the Bank of England, St Pauls Cathedral and Tower 42.

Run for charity
Seeing is Believing (SiB) is the official charity of the Great City Race 2010 and you can do even more to raise money for their worthy cause than paying your registration fee. Pick up a fundraising pack and see how much more you can do in the battle against world wide blindness, which is overwhelmingly preventable and mostly found in low and middle income nations. Last year, competitors could relax after all their hard running and fundraising after the event at the special after party, and there's bound to be something just a special planned for this year's event. The Great City Race takes place at 7:15pm on Thursday 15th July 2010. Registration costs £25.00.
