The Green Park covers 16 hectares and with St James's Park and Hyde Park, forms a chain of open spaces across the centre of the capital.

The Green Park was first recorded in 1554 as a place where a rebellion took place against the marriage of Mary I to Phillip II of Spain. It was also a famous duelling site until 1667. These days it is particularly popular for sunbathing and picnics.

There are toilets situated in the north east corner of the park (near Green Park tube station) and you can pick up refreshments from the booths at both the Ritz Corner and Canada Gate.
