The Greenwich and Docklands Festival presents a free programme of outdoor performances and exciting street entertainment in one of London’s most spectacular open air theatre events. Returning for the 12th year in 2008, the festival includes live performances from a line up of international acts, live in East London.

Spectacular street entertainment
Greenwich and Docklands will be bursting with activity festival, taking place over four days in June. A stunning range of vibrant, colourful performances will be staged throughout the event, including passionate tango dancing at Canary Wharf, giant Chinese landscpapes with abseiling painters live at the O2, footballing Asian dance, a chance to get caught up in an epic film set performance or get eaten by a giant French caterpillar, stunning fireworks shows, a circus and numerous dance theatre shows.

International art
Performance artists and theatre companies from all over Europe will be taking part in the festival, showcasing an eclectic and unique range of live performances. Highlights include deaf and disabled artists group Strange Fruit performing aerial theatre on bendy sway poles, theatrical company Periplum with their pyrotechnical show The Bell and African dance and market place style theatrics from Tavaziva in the Beautiful People.

The Greenwich Festival is a larger than life theatrical event where crowds are invited to marvel at some of the world’s most impressive shows. The atmosphere promises to be electric throughout the festival, with plenty to keep children and adults entertained.

The Greenwich and Docklands Festival takes place in Greenwich, Docklands and surrounding areas from Thursday 19th June – Sunday 22nd June 2008.
