See the Greenwich Christmas lights switch on take place and welcome in the festive season on Wednesday 30th November at Greenwich Market.

Festive sparkle
A perfect event for kids, family and all those that love a little festive sparkle, the Greenwich Christmas lights will be switched on amid a whole host of festive events, including a lantern procession by local children. You can look forward all kinds of seasonal fun, and kids will be delighted by the arrival of Santa in his grotto at the switching on ceremony.

Lantern procession
The lantern procession begins in front of the Discover Greenwich Visitor Centre at the Old Royal Naval College, and finishes at Greenwich Market. The countdown for the switching on of the Greenwich Christmas lights begins at 4.30pm, with characters from the Greenwich Playhouse pantomime Aladdin leading the crowd. After the lights come on, there's carol singing and the chance to indulge in a spot of late night shopping at nearby shops and market stalls.

As well as the turning on of the Greenwich Christmas lights that are set to cast the market in a Yuletide glow, there are a number of other special Christmas events taking place in the run up to Christmas Eve. The Santa's Grotto will be open for business on select days from 30th November until Christmas Eve, and there will also be a daily Christmas market where you can stock up on seasonal treats and gifts.
