Half term London events and activities promise to keep the kids busy this May, with a range of activities, exhibitions and workshops taking place throughout the month. See below for the View London pick of activities to keep boredom at bay during the half term holidays.
Half Term at the Science MuseumKids of all ages (and adults) will be in science heaven at the Science Museum, where alongside all the permanent displays is a chance to get hands on with exciting workshops and the Dan Dare and Wallace and Gromit exhibitions.
Natural History MuseumTake the kids to the Natural History Museum for a range of activities for plenty of half term fun. In addition to all the fantastic permanent exhibitions there's the butterfly jungle guaranteed to keep the nippers happy.
Tate ModernWho said modern art isn’t fun? Kids can get arty with inspiration from all kinds of modern and contemporary artists at the Tate Modern over May half term.
Experience historical LondonTake the little ones back in time at the Museum of London. Make a Festival of Britain poster, discover some Victorian treasures, and watch a toy theatre performance.
Museum in DocklandsLoads of fun half term London events will be taking place at the Museum in Docklands. All things east London will be explored - kids can get involved with hat making sessions and learn some Caribbean dance moves, while the younger ones will love listening to some storytelling.
Horniman MuseumA cracking place to take the little 'uns this half term, Horniman Museum has loads of exciting exhibits and displays. There are special kids events featuring craft sessions and tours around the museum with Mr Horniman himself.
London Wetland CentreThroughout half term, London Wetland Centre is hosting activities to help children discover more about the birds and slimy creatures to be found in the wetlands. Older kids and adults can also go on a bat spotting walk.
Night at the Museum 2If the weather takes a turn for the worse this half term, a trip to the cinema might just save the day. The new Hollywood blockbuster Night at the Museum 2 is showing on the supersized, state of the art screen at the BFI IMAX.
V&A Museum of ChildhoodThe story behind children's toys is the theme of the May half term at Museum of Childhood, as the venue puts on a series of trails, activities and events. There's also the new Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake exhibition featuring the BFG and more.
London Bridge ExperiencePerfect for older kids with a taste for the macabre, the London Bridge Experience includes a tour of the London tombs and plague pits. Combining real life actors, CGI and special effects, this is likely to get the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end!
Shakespeare's Globe TheatreTake your little Romeo or Juliet for a day of entertainment at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. The whole family can enjoy a special performance of the Comedy of Errors, as well as theatre tours and an exhibition.
Half term at London ZooFrom muscle bound gorillas to long necked giraffes, there are plenty of wonderful animals waiting to be discovered at ZSL London Zoo.
Theatre TicketsTake in a West End performance or two this half term. With tickets available for shows including Billy Elliot, The Lion King, and Grease, there's plenty to keep even the harshest young critics entertained. Even better, there's a free day of West End theatrical entertainment at the Royal Festival Hall on Tuesday 26th May.
Udderbelly FestivalTaking place at the very end of half term, the Yardbards family comedy event at the Southbank Centre takes place in a huge, purple, upside down cow specially constructed for the 2009 Udderbelly Festival. Expect plenty of laughs suitable for children over 7, and lots of audience participation at this improvised event.
