Having first been opened to the public back in July 1968, the Hayward was seen as a prime example of modern architecture, which was designed and purpose built as a gallery. Two days before the Hayward Gallery 40p day on Wednesday 9th July you can enjoy a discussion from several distinguished artists that takes the Hayward building as its starting point. Join Antony Gormley, Anish Kapoor and Dennis Crompton as they talk about the profound consequences of architecturally designing an art gallery. This event takes place in the Queen Elizabeth Hall at 7pm, and tickets are £8.00 each.

More art is up for debate on the Hayward Gallery 40p day itself as artists Jeremy Deller and Robin Rhode amongst others explore the ways in which exhibitions interact with the public. This event takes place in the Purcell Room at 7pm, and tickets are £6.00 each.
