Henry Moore at Kew is one of the only major art exhibitions to take place in London on such a grand scale, and this phenomenal show of sculpture by Henry Moore is a landmark project for both Kew and for the city itself. With 28 large scale pieces on show over the 300 acre site, visitors will be amazed and inspired by the graceful and the organic sculptures in the exhibition by Henry Moore at Kew Gardens.
The last major exhibition by the sculptural artist took place in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in 1987, only one year after Moores death, and the only other outdoor display of his work was at the Serpentine Gallery in the 70s, but most of the pieces were indoor sculptures.
Situated in the unique world heritage landscape that is the Botanic Gardens at Kew, the exhibition covers all the major themes of Henry Moore's work, from his famous mother and child series, to interlocking and figurative forms. Giving Londoners a fantastic show of work by Henry Moore at Kew, the landscape is covered with these large scale and monumental pieces. As with any outdoor setting, the light, weather and foliage changes the aspect of the work and as such will create a different exhibition from one end of the season to the next.
Famous all over the world for his love of organic forms and the way that natural shapes influenced his work, the exhibition of Henry Moore at Kew Gardens is one that will see thousands of visitors over the season. On show until the end of March, the sculptures will have seen through the end of summer, autumn, winter and the beginning of spring before they are removed.
Astonishing in any season and likely to introduce another generation to his work, the Henry Moore sculptures in London are set to be one of the art exhibitions of the year.
With only a few more days of the exhibition left, visitors can take a late night wander amongst these amazing sculptures. 20 out of the 28 pieces will be illuminated for the special late night opening from 7pm onwards. The Moore Late Nights take place on 28th and 29th March 2008.
