Henry Moore at Tate Britain is set to be one of the biggest and most important exhibitions of 2010. Bringing together over 150 pieces of the celebrated artist's work, the Henry Moore show is sure to have everyone in the art world wrapt.

Henry Moore at Tate Britain
The last time a Henry Moore exhibition came to London was in September 2007, when Kew Gardens hosted a collection of his stone carvings around the grounds. Now for 2010, Tate Britain is hosting a major exhibition of his sculptures and sketches, that celebrates his work and life as an artist.

Mother and child
One of the most famous subject matters Henry Moore at Tate Britain covers is the artist's obsession with the Mother and Child motif. Explored throughout his career, this exhibition takes a closer look at the natures of the relationship conveyed through the sculpture and sees a darker side than before. Other defining subjects of Henry Moore's career are explored in the exhibition, with sexuality, psychoanalysis, and primitive art and culture being at the forefront.

Reclining figures
One of the most exciting components of Henry Moore at Tate Britain is the inclusion of several reclining figures that were carved from Elm wood. The largest number of these ever have been brought together for the Henry Moore London exhibition and are certain to be one of the main attractions for fans of his work.

Moore in the Blitz
Alongside the more abstract sculptures and works, there are also several pieces from Moore's time as the official war artist during the Second World War. Capturing the fragility and anguish of the people sleeping rough on the Underground, these images helped to document the Blitz and allowed Britain to see exactly how the war was affecting those under fire in the city.

World influence
As well as being renowned around the world for his art, Henry Moore was hugely influenced by other cultures. Taking inspiration from the likes of primitive art, tribal masks and the Spanish Civil War, Moore created emotive and sympathetic figures, which captured the heart of his subject matter. On show at Henry Moore at Tate Britain are several pieces of this art, with The Helmet and Three Points among them.

The exhibition of Henry Moore at Tate Britain takes place from 24th February - 15th August 2010. For more information or to book tickets for the event, click on the link below.
