The Hide and Seek Festival is a one off festival of social games and playful experiences, that takes place at the Southbank Centre and all its various spaces. Taking over the Royal Festival Hall, the Hide and Seek festival aims to encourage Londoners to look at their city differently, and give everyone a real sense if play as they take part in some fantastic games all over the 22 acre site.

A worldwide photographic treasure hunt, a night time chase across London, a wide game with a difference and flashmob dance like you have never seen it before are just a few of the things you can expect to see over the course of the Hide and Seek Festival. Celebrating the new cultural phenomenon of social games that seems to have taken over this summer, the Hide and Seek Festival is a three day extravaganza of free games and play, encouraging you to look at at the world around you with new eyes.

You can sign up for big events, see installation games from fine artists, hire out GPS games, or simply jump in the Sandpit for a whole load of high and low tech gaming fun. The UK's first festival of its kind, the Hide and Seek Festival challenges Londoners to find the fun in their city, as it brings together a wide spectrum of renowned artists and game players from across the world including Blast Theory, Gideon Reeling, Snap Shot City, Coney and Jane McGonigal.

Guaranteed to create a sense of fun, wonder and abandon that is all too often missing from everyday life of work, pub and sleep, the Hide and Seek Festival celebrates all the creativity and social interaction that games have to offer while giving you the opportunity of playing around and generally giggling like a five year old.

Play a game of Sleeveface with a mate, take part in Werewolf night, build your very own board game, lose yourself in a team of strangers or take part in a high tec mobile phone version of I Spy - there is something that will appeal to everyone over the Hide and Seek Festival weekend. From the musical chase that starts the festival off to the grand finale of the Southbank Stag Hunt, you will revel in the chance to play games and bring out your inner naughty child.

The Hide and Seek Festival takes place in and around the Southbank Centre from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th June 2008 and is free to enter. For a full list of games and events, click on the link below for more information.
