Hockney on Turner

Showing a fascinating and enormous range of Turner watercolours, the Hockney on Turner exhibition at Tate Britain gives visitors the chance to see 150 of the great artists work. Showing his extraordinary range of skill and technique as a watercolour artist, Hockney picks out the pieces that were hugely influential on other artists at the time, and in the future, as well as the ones that would compete with his oil paintings for fame and beauty.

Included in the watercolours on display in the Hockney on Turner show is The Blue Rigi, a magnificent painting of a sunrise from 1842 which was recently acquired by the Tate with the help of the most successful public appeal ever.
