The Hollywood Through the Lens exhibition celebrates 100 years of the Hollywood greats on film with a stunning collection of photos on show at the Getty Images Gallery. Featuring the stars of the silver screen from the early days right up to the present day, this is the place to chart the evolution of the classic Hollywood portrait.

Hollywood Through the Lens exhibition
Following the actors and actresses from the golden age of cinema right through to the modern icons of today, the Hollywood Through the Lens exhibition shows how the nature of photography and fashion has changed over the years. The show also highlights how the changing nature of technology has affected cameras, from the early Box Brownies to high quality digital SLRs used now.

Big name stars
The list of people's portraits on the walls at the Hollywood Through the Lens exhibition reads just like a list of Who's Who in the film world. Classic and iconic images of the likes of Humphrey Bogart, Fred Astaire, Marlon Brando, Buster Keaton, Joan Crawford, Clark Gable and Katherine Hepburn all feature from the early days. And you can see Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, Sophia Loren, Michael Caine and Al Pacino from later on in the Hollywood canon.

Glamorous ladies
Featuring both studio sessions, snapshots of stars at events and on location portraits there is a huge range of different photographic styles and approaches on show. A definite highlight of the show is the portrait of Joan Crawford, titled In the Shadows where the actress is seen facing the camera, appearing out of the dark. Whether you are a fan of Audrey or Katherine Hepburn, or simply can't resist the style Marilyn Monroe and Veronica Lake, the Hollywood Through the Lens exhibition is the place to see iconic film stars captured in their glory days.

The Hollywood Through the Lens exhibition takes place from 9am - 6pm, Monday 8th March - Saturday 3rd April 2010 at Getty Images Gallery. Entrance is free.
