Hyde Park covers 140 hectares and provides facilities for many different leisure activities and sports as well as being the focal point for public events of all sizes.

Hyde Park was, originally, one of Henry VIII's favourite hunting grounds (deer and wild boar if you're interested) and now London 's most famous park.

Hyde Park can boast a wide range of facilities – a playground, an education centre, disabled toilets, deckchairs and more.

There are several places to eat: The Dell, The Lido Cafe, The Hyde Park Tennis Centre Cafe and The Honest Sausage. There are also refreshment points at Speakers Corner, The Boathouse, the playground, Hyde Park Corner and Triangle Car Park.

Hyde Park is home to a range of leisure activities. Most pitch-based sports tend to take place on the southern section of the Park between Rotten Row and South Carriage Drive - this area is known as the Sports Field and is used for informal games of football, touch rugby, cricket, softball, rounders and Frisbee.

Cycling and roller-blading (and all associated activities - skateboarding and so on) is allowed on all roads and the specially designated cycle paths.

The Serpentine Lido and its accompanying paddling pool are excellent for swimming and, of course, there are boats to be hired on the Serpentine itself.

Elsewhere Hyde Park Tennis and Sports Centre is located at the western end of the Sports Field. It provides high-quality tennis facilities and coaching. There is also a bowling green and a challenging putting course.
