The I Remember You exhibition London event showcases new works from artist Stuart Pearson Wright, who was the winner of the BP Portrait Award when just 26. Showcasing several paintings and an unsual double screen film installation, this collection of works explores the world of stereotyping surrounding men and women in the stories of the American West.

I Remember You exhibition
London has been home to the famous Riflemaker Gallery since the sixties and is renowned for showing the best in creative talent and up coming artists. On show until the end of June 2010, the exhibition from Stuart Pearson Wright aims to dispell the myths surrounding male and female characters from films, books and comics in a series of works that parody traditional artworks.

Girls who like boys
Many of the paintings on show in the I Remember You exhibition feature Pearson Wright and his girlfriend depicted in slushy, romantic or pulp fiction style poses. Continuing his habit of subverting traditional style portraits, their faces are stylised into characters and painted on innocuous backgrounds, similar to those found on canvases in US thrift stores. Using the image of the cowboy throughout the series, the backdrop of American mountains and forests becomes a familiar one, with Pearson Wright and his fiancee taking centre stage.

Hollywood star
Alongside the depictions of classic American anti-heroes, a film installation that stars a big name Hollywood actress is also a major part of the art show. Taking up two screens, this double hitting film installation stars Keira Knightley and the artist in a constant quest to find each other. Dressed in Elizabethan costume, the pair of courtiers search endlessly for each other in a giant maze. As they are able to hear the other's voice, but unable to reach them, the film ends with Pearson Wright's character losing hope, but Knightley's coming to terms with the situation, in a reflection of the relationship breaking down..

The I Remember You exhibition London event takes place from 10am - 6pm Monday - Friday and 12pm - 6pm on Saturdays. The show takes place from Wednesday 5th May - Saturday 26th June 2010. Entrance is free.
