Independence Day London events are taking place on and around Friday 4th July 2008, giving Londoners the opportunity to celebrate in true US style. A selection of restaurants and bars are serving up traditional American eats this July, promising a taste of Independence in the capital.

Special dishes will be added to the menu on Independence Day alongside regular dishes such as Maine style lobster. On 4th July only you'll be able to order buttermilk fried chicken with crispy coleslaw and a giant wedge of watermelon. For competitive sorts or those with large appetites, you can take part in the rib eating contest from 6:30pm onwards. The venue will be decked out in traditional colours, and American music will make for a full Independence Day party.

Chicago Rib Shack
Capital Radio will be broadcast live from Chicago Rib Shack on 4th July and it's an American Independence Day Special. Plenty of fun giveaways and an Independence Day breakfast will get going and a £15.00 rib tasting menu at lunch and in the evening will surely have you singing the star spangled banner with much gusto.

Hard Rock Cafe
One of the USA’s most famous culinary exports is going seriously red, white and blue this summer with a complete Independence Day theme for 4th July. The venue will be kitted out in full decoration and visitors can indulge in a selection of classic American dishes in lively, vibrant surroundings, promising a memorable Independence Day 2008.

Eagle Bar and Diner
Expect delicious cocktails and authentic US cuisine at Eagle Bar and Diner, the sleek modern take on the American themed diner in the West End. Londoners can celebrate US Independence in retro style in cool surroundings, complete with a menu of sumptuous dishes from the States. Cocktails include the Gingerbread Sour, the fruity Aviation or the classic Cosmopolitan. And you can round those off with a burger n shake combo, of an Eagle Bar burger with a $10 Shake, that comes with a cheeky Bourbon edge. The Independence Day menu is available on Friday 4th July.

Bodeans is serving up a menu of traditional US food this July, sampling cuisine from across the country. Guests can make it a gourmet Independence Day in London with a complete Family Feast, three course meal, and a special BBQ Sampler with ribs, chicken, pork, sausage, fries and coleslaw for £11.95. The Bodeans Family Feast costs £17.76 per head, in honour of the original date of US independence (4th July 1776). The menu is available from Friday 4th July – Sunday 6th July 2008.

Black and Blue are offering an authentic American steakhouse experience using quality British produce for Independence Day 2008 by inviting you to try vinatge dry aged steak, cooked to perfection for two. And for those that want their food in a bun, there is always a substantial homemade burger and chips.

Independence Day at Waxy O'Connors
Central London's big Irish pub, Waxy O'Connors, is hosting an Irish-themed American celebration on 4th July. Independence Day in London is all about feasting on the American-themed menu. Tuck into traditional style BBQ ribs, surf n turf, and nachos with cheese. And the best part? Free entry from 12pm to midnight. Now that's the American way.

Inn on the Green
Head to Inn on the Green for some real American style entertainment with go-go dancing from cheerleaders, hillbilly comedy cabaret and country rock n roll from the Wildcat Tamers. A bar and grill will keep you full of food and beer, and happy to party the night away in the style of Uncle Sam. Kicking off at 8pm, tickets are £6.00, and £5.00 concessions.

Barbecue picnic
If heading into the park and avoiding the packed restaurants is more your thing, then celebrate the 4th July with an outdoor picnic at Mile End Park. Organised by genuine Americans, you will feel at home with burgers, hotdogs, a BBQ and beer. Kicking off at 2:30pm with a BYO spirit, the picnic then moves into the Palm Tree Pub as the action hots up. Simply bring something to cook and your sense of patriotism for a fine day put.
