I took my girlfriend there for valentine this year, after reading all these nice reviews! What a mistake, such a disappointing night, the food was just average and almost below, the lamb we had was so tough and not much taste into it at all. The samosa starter was only one piece, for almost £6!! , by far no value for money not mentioning 15% service charge.
We made a complain and was offered a free drink, which we had no interest at all. The whole experience was a total disappointment. I would avoid this place at any costs there are far many more nice places than this, specially for its value.
It has started make me wonder who is leaving all these nice reviews for this restaurant and why! Makes you think, and I leave your imaginations to decide.
My partner and I had our first visit here yesterday evening.
The staff were very welcoming and once seated we were given a tasty complimentary drink of cucumber and mint, which was a nice touch. Service was a little hurried, but very polite all the same.
As a starter we shared Prawn and Aubergine Kharkhatla which was very flavoursome, but only had two prawns in it, albeit extremely large and tender ones.
Our main meal, we enjoyed the Chicken Jaffrezi and Saffron Chicken Korma, with Aromatic Basmati rice and Jeera and Saffron Palau.
Both of these dishes were excellent, but again, like other restaurants I have tried in the area, the chicken in the Korma was dry and not tender enough.
I was disappointed by the garlic Naan bread, as found this to be very small, and more like a pancake consistency. The Papadums were very nice and not too oily.
I really think that you would be rewarded to branch out from the ‘common/usual’ dishes so be brave!
There was a small problem with the credit card machine at the end of the meal, which took sometime for the manager to sort out.
However, when the bill came, it was accompanied by a small bowl of chocolate raisins and mints – lovely.
I recently went to Indian Zing and was hugely impressed. The food and service were excellent and I will definitely return. It's different to anywhere I've been before and a real find.
If you're looking for somewhere special, I really recommend Indian Zing.
