Irvine Welsh at Bookslam

You can see Irvine Welsh at Bookslam over the summer, as the Socts author joins the literati for the Bookslam Summer Barbecue at 93 Feet East. Author of Trainspotting and last year's hit Bedroom Secrets of the Masterchefs, he is renowned for writing his hard hitting novels about Scotland's drug scene and often in incomprehensible (to many English people) Scots. Irvine Welsh is a well respected writer and author of many novels and his latest work is Crime.

Crime follows the story of Ray Lennox as he inadvertantly goes on the run with a ten year old child. Attempting to save the girl from a pursuing band of paedophiles, Lennox comes under suspicion himself. As incidents from his past take their toll on his mind, Lennox begins to wonder he Tianna can trust him, and can he even trust himself.

Joining Irvine Welsh at Bookslam for the summer barbecue is a whole range of delightful people all ready and willing to entertain. Alabama 3 will bringing the music to the barbecue, with their reputation for dirty country music still intact. Celebrating the launch of their new album in September, they are heading to the summer barbecue along with Irvine Welsh to get you all up and boot scooting on the dance floor.

Entertainment at the Bookslam summer shindig also comes in the form of Adam Buxton, known for being one half of the Adam and Joe Show, and for recently launching his stand up comedy career at the Edinburgh frnige festival.

The last fellow barbecue goer to join Irvine Welsh at Bookslam in July will be Sophie Woolley, whose hit show When to Run took London by storm last year.

Spinning the wheels of steel and generally keeping everything going the way it should be will be DJ Toaul Galloway, and of course Bookslam co founder Patrick Neate will be in tow with his literary opinions and intellectual stimulants at the ready.
