In celebration of its fiftieth anniversary, Island Records Festival tickets are now available for a week-long celebration of one of the most prestigious and important record labels in the business. Since its inception in Kingston on the island of Jamaica in 1959, the Island Records label has been synonymous with quality recording. From its relocation to London in the early sixties through to signing stars like Bob Marley, U2, Bob Dylan, Grace Jones and Led Zeppelin, Island Records has enjoyed an enviable reputation as one of the most forward thinking labels around. Fiftieth anniversary events
The Island Records Festival will take place at the Shepherds Bush Empire and will be part of a selection of associated events taking place throughout 2009 to celebrate this milestone. There will also be TV and radio documentaries, an Island 50 book, exhibitions of photos, artwork and memorabilia, as well as an Island 50 film festival showcasing Island Records-related films such as The Harder They Come, Rockers, Countrymen and more.

For charity
