And if you're a London film fan who doesn't want to commit to a full length feature, you can always check out the shorts on offer at the Riverside Studios on Sunday 26th April, which covers everything from drama, comedy and horror with lightning speed.
New filmmakers
Celebrating the next generation of talented filmmakers emerging out of Italy, the Italian Film Festival at London cinemas presents a number of films by first and second time directors. Highlights include The Girl by the Lake, a taut murder mystery which won 10 Italian Oscars after it was released in 2007. Romance fans might also want to watch Marcello Marcello, a love story set on a fictonal and sun kissed island.
Documentaries
Non fiction enthusiasts will be drawn to the programme of documentaries on offer at the Italian Film Festival, which include Valentino: The Last Emperor, which follows the iconic fashion designer as he prepares for his final couture show. Other documentaries on show include Mother Earth, which explores the Slow Food movement, and A Midsummer Death's Dream, which follows the life of a noive undertaker in the south Italian town.
Tribute to Alisa Valli
Described as one of the most beautiful woman of her day, the tribute to Alisa Valli at the Riverside Studios features a screening of The Paradine Case, starring the actress alongside Gregory Peck. There is also a reshowing of the classic 1949 film noir by Carol Reed, The Third Man, starring Alisa Valli and Orson Welles.
