The Jerez Discovery Bar comes to Spitalfields Market in August to treat your to some of the delights of Spanish sherry. Back in the bars and clubs of London, sherry is no longer the drink that your gran used to have before dinner. Head to the Jerez Discovery Bar to treat your tastebuds to a summer sensation.

Popping up in Spitalfields for three days only, the Jerez Discovery Bar will allow you to sample some of the Jerez's finest sherries along with some very tasty treats. Matched by the virtuoso chef Heston Blumenthal, the tapas style dishes accompany each different sherry perfectly, creating a little taste of sunny Spain in the heart of London.

Thanks to the Sherry Institute of Spain, you can try almost every kind of sherry there is from super dry, citrusy fino, to nutty oloroso and cream sherry. Perfectly suited to the hotter climate of Spain, the Jerez Discovery Bar will have you transported off to Andalucia, whilst you take in the vibrant market setting.

A variety of tantalising tapas is on offer to accompany each of the different sherries, so if you are feeling peckish there is no reason not to tuck in. Poached chicken with Serrano ham stuffed with pecorino pesto sits perfectly alongside a glass of fino sherry, while a shot of garlic and almond soup is just the thing to go with an oloroso sherry. And if those don't convince you, then the braised ham hock with rose apricots served alongside the cream sherry certainly will.

Not just an aperitif, but ideally suited to pair with plenty of different foods, sherry is set to be the next big thing in London bars. The Jerez Discovery Bar is open from 1pm to 10pm on Wednesday 13th, from 12pm to 10pm on Thursday 14th, and 12pm to 9pm on Friday 15th August 2008.

The sherry bar is located at the west end of Spitalfields Market, under the sail and is free to attend. Sherries and tapas combined, start from £3.00
