Kablovi Park at Canary Wharf is an unusual light installation that is set to light up the dark nights of winter until the end of February.

Kablovi Park
Canary Wharf and Jubilee Park play host to the light cables installation throughout the winter this year, as light designer and artist Admir Jukanovic has transformed the area into an art gallery. Based on the idea that thousands and thousands of eletrcity cables run directly under your feet, powering offices, car parks, shops and the tube, Kablovi Park at Canary Wharf (Cable Park in Bosnian and Croatian) has brought those cables to the surface.

Cable art
The light art installation consists of several sets of cables scattered around Jubilee Park that look as though they have been pulled up from under the surface of the ground. Jukanovic has created the installation with bright red, pulsating cable groups of twos and threes, that seem to breathe in the dark. Visitors to the park and those on their way home from work are able to see a network of implied energy cables that glow redly in the winter dark.

Winter lights
Unlike most winter or fairy lights that you might see at this time of year, the installation of Kablovi Park at Canary Wharf also includes a rill of water that runs the length of Jubilee Park. Coloured blue and flashing with a faster pulse than the menacing red cables, this part of the artwork brings a touch of magical enchantment to the installation.

You can see Kablovi Park at Canary Wharf until Saturday 26th February 2010.
