Featuring back to back live music concerts and arts events, the Kings Place Festival celebrates the second anniversary of the commercial arts venue in style.
Arts fiesta
With contemporary music, blues, avant garde, classical and jazz all on the agenda for the venue's second birthday party, the Kings Place Festival promises to be a real treat for fans of live music. Taking place across a variety of performances spaces at the venue, as well as two art galleries and a number of open public spaces in the Kings Cross complex, the festival should give you plenty to be thankful for, even if the summer is almost over.
Live performances
Musicians performing at the Kings Place Festival include father and daughter folk duo Martin and Eliza Carthy, contemporary music made from items of rubbish by the Junk Band, and stirring classical arrangements from the Royal Academy of Music. The Monster Ceilidh Band, London Sinfonietta, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Chilingirian Quartet are also on the line up, which includes a wide range of musical genres and styles.
Art events
As well as all the live music concerts taking place as part of the Kings Place Festival, Pangolin London and Kings Place Gallery will also be contributing with art exhibitions and special events. Spoken word events at the festival include a performance by the first ever storyteller laureate Taffy Thomas, plus a comedy show from Jenny Eclair.
The Kings Place Festival runs from Thursday 9th September - Sunday 12th September 2010. Opening hours are 1pm - 10pm Thursday - Friday, and 10am - 10pm Saturday - Sunday.
Admission to the public spaces hosting the festival is free, but tickets to see each individual, 45 minute concert cost £4.50 in advance. There are also a number of free events taking place. For the full programme of live performances and to book tickets online, click on the link below.
