My boyfriend and I ate here last night for Valentine's Day. I have to say I was really disappointed, and he was quite too. I'm not overly picky when it comes to restaurants, but something was awry with Auberge last night.
Firstly, they were extremely full and I think they had over-stretched their kitchen. our starters took nearly half an hour to come, and they weren't being cooked on order, I'm sure. The staff were perfectly pleasant but also a bit away with the fairies - even getting our bill took a bizarre length of time. My main complaint really is with my main course. I chose a veggie stew with rice - not because I'm veggie, but because I thought it sounded nice. It was really crap. Over-cooked root vegetables with the bare minimum of presentation and hardly any of them, a bit of basic sauce and a cup of rice. Really not worth the money.

I see the other reviews are great, so perhaps they had an off-night, as I say, overstretched. We won't go back there for dinner.

Been several times for lunch. Excellent lunchtime set menus with a decent choice. Amazing value for such good food. Reasonably priced and very palatable house wines. Service has always been friendly and attentive. Just a great place with a nice continental atmosphere. An Islington gem indeed!

We have never ever had a bad meal in La Petite Auberge. The menu's great and the specials make things interesting for regulars. La Petite Auberge is lovely and cosy, the waiting staff are great and it's fantastic value for money. Check out the best Sunday lunches too.

La Petite Auberge is definitely one of my all time favourites. Fantastic menu, fantastic food and all at fantastic prices. What more can you ask for?
