Bringing together artists from around the world, Laughing in a Foriegn Language is an exhibition that examines the nature of humour in contemporary art. Asking if humour is an international constant or if it can only be shared by people of the same culture and background, the exhibition is a fascinating look at what makes us laugh, whether it be in London or in Lapland.

The world is only getting smaller and smaller these days as increasing globalisation means that crossing cultural boundaries is easier and more regularly achieved. But does political, cultural and historical background limit people to finding the same things funny as their countrymen? Laughing in a Foreign Language attempts to understand the question.

Investigating a whole spectrum of humour from the banale to the profound, Laughing in a Foreign Language looks at visual jokes, gags, irony, wit and satire to see if humour can enable us to better understand other cultures. 30 artists from around the globe have contributed pieces to the exhibition in an attempt to share their comedy quandry with each other.

More than 70 videos, photographs and interactive installations make up the exhibition which includes work from the likes of Jake and Dinos Chapman, Marcus Coates, Janne Lehinen, Nine Jan Beierr and Marie Jan Lund, Nedko Solakov, Harry Dodge and Candice Breitz.
