Light Cables Installation at Jubilee Park

A light cables installation at Jubilee Park is lighting up the way home for Londoners this winter as a lighting artist has covered the ground with pulsating coloured cables.

Light cables installation
Designed by the artist and lighting designer Admir Jukanovic, the installation at Jubilee Park is based on the concept of the thousands of cables that run under the ground. Covering thousands and thousands of square miles, these cables supply electricity all over the city, and it is these that Jukanovic has imagined being pulled up from under the earth in the light cables installation.

Jubilee Park aglow
Pulsating with an uncanny enegry, the cables in the park are vividly coloured and seeminlgy alive with electric energy. The light cables installation at Jubilee Park sees the cables grouped into threes, pairs and sometimes on their own in a single line, creating bright red straight lines in the dark. In contrast to the violent red cables, a single stream of blue coloured water runs the length of the park, sparkling its way through the dark.

Enchanting lights
Christmas maybe over and Twelfth Night been and gone, but the light cables installation at Jubilee Park is lighting up Canary Wharf until the end of February. Traditionally many traditions around the world celebrate a mid winter festival with lights to brighten up the darker days. Unlike most conventional winter lights, these modern day reminders of the electricity network that powers the city are at once creepy and magical.
