Stunning Linda McCartney photographs are on display at the James Hyman Gallery over the spring and summer as a commemorative exhibition of the tenth anniversary of her death. Simply titled Linda McCartney Photographs, the collection of photos shows intimate family portraits alongside images of rock and roll stars captured in the 60s.

Curated and overseen by Paul McCartney who was married to Linda until her death from cancer in 1998, the exhibition of Linda McCartney photographs also includes many pictures of the Beatles, along with many other famous musicians that were around at the same time.

This is the first major exhibition of Linda McCartney works to take place in the UK, and there will no doubt be many who are keen to see what the wife of a Beatle did before and after she become one of the most famous wives in the world. Having taken three years to complete, and been overseen every step of the way by Paul McCartney and their daughter Mary, the Linda McCartney photographs are a true portrayal of her work, her style and the reason she met up with the Beatles in the first place.

Photos in the exhibition capture many of the rockstars that were notorious or famous in the sixties and seventies, such as Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, John Lennon and Mick Jagger. There are also pictures of Simon and Garfunkel, and the controversial artist couple Gilbert and Georges on display. As many of the images in the Linda McCartney Photographs exhibition have never been seen before, this is your chance to witness some amazing art work only seen by very few eyes.

Capturing the true spirit of Linda McCartney as a photographer rather than just the wife of a famous musician is at the heart of the exhibition. Along with the scrupulous curating by Paul McCartney, the photographs on display have been printed by the printing firm used by Linda, and are printed onto the paper that she particularly liked, making the whole process as close to one put together by the original artist as possible.

A sensitive and intimate collection of images, the Linda McCartney Photographs are on show at the James Hyman Gallery until 19th July 2008. Limited edition prints and a limited edition catalogue are available to purchase from the gallery.
