Two evenings of live music and DJs at Tate Modern take place over the gallery's birthday weekend in May this year as the Tate Modern turns ten. With a fantastic line up of live entertainment from a variety of different performers, visitors are set for a weekend of unadulterated fun.

Live music and DJs
Tate Modern turns ten on Wednesday 12th May and asides from a birthday parade of school children and a giant Tate Modern shaped cake, the following weekend is set to be party central at this world famous modern art gallery. Not only are Friday and Saturday night crammed full of live performances, but the rest of the weekend features a full on programme of free entertainment with art, dance and film all on the menu.

Artistic performances
Friday and Saturday sees a selection of performances take place with live music and DJs at Tate Modern being at the forefront of the entertainment. Friday kicks off the proceedings with indie punk form Skin Jobs, garage rock from Jeffrey Lewis and ceilidh dance music from Long Meg. The highlight of the first evening will no doubt be Turner Prize winning artist Martin Creed and his band.

Late night entertainment
Saturday night then follows with electro acoustic music from Kaffe Matthews, a live performance from Throbbing Gristle's Cosey Fanni Tutti, and an appearance from Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore. DJ Spooky will also be taking a turn on the wheels of steel, as the event carries on until midnight.

Birthday events
Alongside the live music and DJs at Tate Modern, the gallery will also be celebrating with a free festival of arts, taking place in the Turbine Hall. No Soul for Sale features a huge selection of artists and artistic collectives with live performances, interactive installations and weird and wonderful art and films. Dance shows take place in and around the galleries and a special birthday procession kicks off the celebrations on the actual birthday, Wednesday 12th May 2010.

The performances of live music and DJs at Tate Modern take place on from 8pm - 12am on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th May 2010. Entrance is free, but must be booked in advance.

Please note that this event is now fully booked.
