See one of London's most famous performance venues in a different light with the Load exhibition at Royal Albert Hall. For the first time, the underground Loading Bay will be opened up to the public and will display a breathtaking array of urban art celebrating the key moments of the venue's rich cultural history.

Load exhibition at Royal Albert Hall
Following the life story of the Royal Albert Hall from its beginning in 1871 to the present day, the Load exhibition at Royal Albert Hall will use contemporary artistic techniques from the graffiti and urban art scene to illustrate iconic events in the venue's history. Open for one day only, the exhibition will allow art lovers access to the Royal Albert Hall's Loading Bay, which located three floows underground and is usually only seen by artists, performers and behind the scenes staff at the famous venue.

History of the Royal Albert hall
Charting the first shows illuminated with electric lighting, the hall's part in the suffragette movement, and Mohammed Ali's knock out rounds, the Load exhibition at the Royal Albert Hall aims to be a whirlwind tour of the venues interaction with popular culture and social history. Load will also include a series of 10ft high murals with portraits of some of the legendary muscials to have played at the Royal Albert Hall, including Jimi Hendrix, Pavarotti, Eric Clapton, The Killers, and Frank Sinatra.

Graffers and taggers
A third space within the exhibition will be given over entirely to an exploration of the roots of the urban and graffiti art on show. With stencil, photorealistic and freehand techniques all on show, the exhibition will a draw for any discerning fan of street art.

The Load exhibition at Royal Albert Hall is open to the public from 12pm - 9pm, Monday 22nd June 2009.
