The London 2012 Olympic party kicks off the beginning of four years of preperation and anticipation for the 2012 games due to take place in the city. With amazing live music, plenty of special guest from the sporting and celebrity world, and an atmosphere like no other, the London 2012 Olympic party is set to be the event of the Bank Holiday weekend.

The official start of the London 2012 Olympic party will see the handover of the Olympic flag fromthe Mayor of Beijing to the Mayor of London as China relinquishes its title of official Olympic Games country, and gives Britain the glory for the next four years. Screened live from Beijing you can be there with all the other 2012 Olympic party goers to celebrate and rejoice as Boris Johnson holds aloft the flag at the closing ceremony of the games.

Not only will you be able to witness the start of London's official status as host for the next Olympic games, the London 2012 Olympic party will be a full on day of free entertainment for all. Free tickets will be issued to 40,000 lucky people to come and spend the day at the biggest Olympic party yet, with a live stage show, and loads of exciting events.

Don't fear if you aren't one of the lucky ones to get tickets for the London 2012 Olympic party, as the festivities will be shown on big screens around the city, with coverage also on BBC 1 and Radio 2. The big screens showing the party will be located at Trafalgar Square, Canary Wharf and Walthamstow town centre. And for those that couldn't possibly spend their August Bank Holiday anywhere other than the Notting Hill Carnival, the handover and the Olympic party will be shown on big screens at the carnival too, so you won't miss a thing.
