The 2008 London African Film Festival brings together some of the very best films from Africa in a ten day celebration of the continent's filmmakers and producers. From silents films to hip hop shorts, and feature length films to documentaries, the festival screens every kind of African cinema available.

40 fantastic films will be screened at various cinemas around the city during the London African Film Festival, giving fans of African culture and film lovers the chance to immerse themselves in a world of groundbreaking and innovative works. Whether you want to see documentaries, rare archive material or experimental films, there will be plenty to inspire and excite.

Festival highlights
This year the festival sees films from all across Africa hitting the screens in London, with work from Chad to Tanzania, and Mauritania to South Africa showing in the cinemas. Highlights of the programme include the UK premiere of Jerusalema, which is the South African submission for the 2009 Oscars, and rare screenings of some of the first South African silent films, including some anti apartheid films from the 1960s.

Workshops and events
For those that want even more from their festival experience, a series of London African Film Festival events will give you the chance to take part in Q&A sessions with directors and producers, and rub shoulders with some of the contributors. Hear from Abderrahmane Sissako at the BFI Southbank as he discusses his life and career on Saturday 6th December, or find out more about the Nigerian Nollywood phenomenon at Rich Mix on Wednesday 3rd December.
