London’s famous New Years Eve fireworks are back again for another round, and this year’s event will be one to remember. Jaw dropping fireworks will be launched off the 135 metre London Eye, projecting colour and light that will be seen throughout the capital. Take part in the festivities and let your hair down as London lets in 2009.

2007 fireworks2007's fireworks display was attended by a crowd of 700,000 people - - that's about a tenth of all Londoners, and millions more watched the television from across the UK and the rest of the world. The live BBC broadcast was watched by 10.1 million UK viewers and countless others watched the footage as it was screened in other countries.
Great viewsThanks to having an enormous height advantage, the London Eye New Years Eve fireworks display will be able to be viewed throughout London. And if you are lucky enough to get into one of the viewing areas, you will be treated to s specially mixed soundtrack from Radio 1 as you wait for the fireworks to start. If you can’t get down to watch the event from along the Thames, head to high ground like Hampstead Heath for some spectacular views. Residents who have high balconies or roofs can also experience the fireworks from their own homes, which might be just the excuse you need to host a New Years Eve party.
TV screeningIf you don’t have the opportunity to see the London Eye New Years Eve fireworks in person, don’t fret. Screening around the world as far as Beijing, Brazil, New York and Deli, the fireworks from renowned pyrotechnician Christophe Bertinneau will welcome everyone into 2009. A live and uninterrupted feed of the whole affair will be broadcast on BBC 1. Tune in and try to spot people you know or laugh at the presenters fluffing their lines.
