Cinemas across London
Take the whole family out for a series of special events for London Film Day. Celebrating all things cinematic, the event is hosting by the Mayor of London and features world premieres, special screenings and free workshops that both kids and adults can enjoy.
Cinemas take centre stage
It seems as though the whole of London is continuing its love affair with the cinema of late, with 3D screenings all the rage and crowds flocking to Leicester Square to see the stars of the latest big film to be released signing autographs on the red carpet. Tapping into the enthusiasm with going to the flicks, London Film Day features workshops, tours, competitions and screenings at cinemas across London.
Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang
The centrepiece of the London Film Day events is the world public premiere of Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, the latest instalment in the popular children's film starring Oscar winning actress Emma Thompson. The premiere takes place simultaneously in 15 separate cinemas across London, with tickets costing just £5.00 for adults and £1.00 for children.
Free family workshops
With standard cinema ticket prices being slashed for the Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang public premieres, families can afford to enjoy a day out together on London Film Day without blowing the whole week's budget. Better yet, there are free family workshops before each screening, and even the chance to meet some of the stars of the film.
The magic of cinema
All of the 15 free family workshops celebrate the magic of cinema, from modelling and animation sessions to a tour of Somerset House, storyboarding, storytelling and drawing. There are also plenty of competitions and prizes to keep kids happy before they head into the cinema to watch the new Nanny McPhee film.
London Film Day takes place on Sunday 21st March 2010. The public world premieres of Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang start at 2pm at 15 cinemas across the city. Tickets are on sale now, and cost £5.00 for adults and £1.00 for kids.
The free family workshops take place throughout the day. Please note that the workshops are drop in, with availability on a first come, first served basis, with the exception of the Phoenix Cinema and Rich Mix workshops, where you must book in advance.
