Celebrating London's love of all things celluloid, the London Film Festival at Trafalgar Square event brings the big screen to the masses once more. With a free screening of archive footage on a giant screen, the London Moves Me evening gives you a chance to get involved with the festival out in the open air.

2009 London Film Festival
This year the London Film Festival is 53, and to mark the anniversary the films screened as part of the London Film Festival at Trafalgar Square series have the city star as the central character. Entitled London Moves Me, the films on show for these special screenings show just how atmospheric and individual a city like London can be on screen.

London Moves Me
The screenings of the London Film Festival at Trafalgar Square feature over 20 films that explore the subject of travel in the capital. Accompanied by live piano music from Neil Brand, the London Moves Me event shows just how photogenic our fair city was, even at the beginning of the twentieth century.

Over a century of commuting
Spanning the years 1896 to 2009, London Film Festival at Trafalgar Square screenings are a whistle stop tour of the city, showing a variety of different locations and areas on the big screen. From Victorian ladies managing to cycle through Hyde Park in their long and voluminous skirts to 1920s horse towed barges on Regent's Canal and commuters on the Tube in the 1930s, there's plenty of fascinating footage from the past to be seen.

London Moves Me, the London Film Festival at Trafalgar Square event, starts at 6.30pm, Thursday 22nd October 2009. Admission is free.
