London Honey Festival

Head to the free London Honey Festival for a day celebrating the bee hives to be found across the city.

Local honey
There are over two and a half thousand hives across London, meaning that even in one of the world's busiest cities you are never far away from a bee. The London Honey Festival sees many of the capital's beekeepers set up camp at the Royal Festival Hall within the Southbank Centre for a day packed full of honey tastings and special events.

Market stalls
Celebrating this year's honey crop, the London Honey Festival gives you the chance to meet local beekeepers and get advice on how to turn your garden into a haven for bees and other wildlife. The Real Food Market will be stocking local honey during the festival, and alongside all the honey samples on offer, there's also the chance to see the bees hard at work in the observation hives.

Special events
Other events taking place during the London Honey Festival include bee mask making workshops for kids, film screenings and DJ sets featuring bee themed music. The festival is also exhibiting a honey map of London so you can find your local hive.

The London Honey Festival takes place from 12pm - 5pm, Sunday 21st August 2011. The event takes place at the Clore Ballroom within the Royal Festival Hall. Admission is free.
