London Jazz Festival at Southbank Centre

With everything from full orchestral concerts to intimate free gigs, the special events for the London Jazz Festival at Southbank Centre welcomes both seasoned jazz fans and relative newcomers to take part in a huge musical celebration.

Highlight events
Highlights of the 2011 London Jazz Festival at Southbank Centre include two appearances by the Portico Quartet, in which the celebrated group blend electronica with 21st century jazz for a unique sound which draws on everything from dubstep and rock to ambient music. Free jazz icon Ornette Coleman will also be performing live at the Royal Festival Hall, while acclaimed bluegrass country singer is performing alongside Union Station.

Free events
Alongside the ticketed events, there are a number of free gigs where you can feast your ears on all things jazz. The Jazz Line-Up features interviews and live performances from a series of first class groups, while swing lovers can head to the Queen Elizabeth Hall for free gigs by the Royal Academy of Music Big Band and the Matt Roberts Big Band. The London Jazz Festival at Southbank Centre programme also includes a number of workshops and masterclasses where you can learn from the greats.
