Friday 13th November: John Scofield's Piety Street Band at Queen Elizabeth HallTaking place on the first night of the festival, John Scofield's Piety Street Band should get your feet moving and hips swaying. The Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre will be full of music as the band plays a variety of soulful blues, gospel, and New Orleans inspired RnB. Saturday 14th November: Sonny Rollins at BarbicanA true legend in the jazz world, saxophonist Sonny Rollins brings his diverse sound to the Barbican for what will certainly be a stunning concert. Tickets are £10.00 - £65.00 and can be booked by calling 0207 638 8891.
Sunday 14th November: Tomasz Stanko Nordic Quintet at Queen Elizabeth HallPolish trumpeter Tomasz Stanko will be playing as part of his new quintet, who will be presenting everything from folk to free jazz at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Tickets are £10.00 - £25.00; to book, call 0871 663 2505.
Wednesday 18th November - Saturday 21st November: Stefano Bollani Residency at Kings PlaceSee the latest Italian pianist and composer Stefano Bollani at a series of festival concerts. London Jazz Festival events don't come much better than this so make sure you head down and catch some great live music at Kings Place. Call 0207 520 1490 for more information and ticket prices.
Thursday 19th November: Gilberto Gil at Royal Festival HallPresenting the UK premiere of his new strings project with cellist Jaques Morelenbaum, the Gilberto Gil concert at the Royal Festival Hall promises to be an intimate and exciting musical experience. Thursday 19th November: Bill Frisell with BBC Symphony Orchestra at BarbicanWith a score arranged by composer Mike Gibbs, the Bill Frisell and BBC Symphony Orchestra collaboration is sure to be another highlight of the London Jazz Festival events programme. With selections of the guitarist's music at the centre of the performance, this is the place for some highly melodic and beautiful late night jazz action. Saturday 21st November: Cleo Laine, John Dankworth and friends at Royal Festival HallThe very best of British jazz music comes to the Royal Festival Hall, with a celebration of the career of legendary singer Cleo Laine, which stretches back to the 1950's.
