The London Literature Festival at Southbank Centre is the culmination of year round literary events at the heart of London's foremost literature venue. With a whole host of events taking place and plenty of exciting and vibrant authors involved, the London Literature Festival is now a significant part of the literary calendar in the city.
Southbank Lit Fest
With a rich mix of cultural and literary artists and unusual events for both kids and family, the London Literature Festival features writers, prize winning authors, historians, poets, artists and improvised writing and performance sessions, along with events which tie into the Udderbelly arts and other festival strands in 2011.
Festival highlights
Highlights of the London Literature Festival include the world premiere production of Sexing the Cherry, Jeanette Winterson's classic tale set on the 17th century banks of the Thames. Famous authors appearing at the 2011 festival include Philip Pullman and Iain Sinclair, as well as Alan Hollinghurst, Gilbert and George, Alexander McCall Smith, Michael Morpurgo and Zaha Hadid.

Past and present literature
This year the London Literature Festival embraces literature from many different perspectives. The State of the Nation debates take a critical look at our current economic, political and social climate, while the Futurology events consider the possible utopias and dystopias of the future.
Celebration of literature
Fans of both non fiction and fiction will have plenty to keep them occupied during the London Literature Festival, with appearances from architect Zaha Hadid, Scotland's National Poet Liz Lochhead, scientist Jocelyn Bell Burnell doctor and novelists Philip Pullman and Michael Cunningham. Meanwhile, anyone who is in desperate need to discuss and explore new fiction will want to head to the book club meetings to discuss books such as In the Country of Men by Hisham Matar and Minaret by Leila Aboulela.
The festival runs from Thursday 30th June - Thursday 14th July 2011. For more information and the full listings of the London Literature Festival at Southbank centre or to book tickets for any of the events, click on the link below.
