The London Literature Festival at Southbank Centre is the culmination of year round literary events at the heart of London's foremost literature venue. With a whole host of events taking place and plenty of exciting and vibrant authors involved, the London Literature Festival is now a significant part of the literary calendar in the city.

With a rich mix of cultural and literary artists and unusual events for both kids and family, the London Literature Festival features writers, prize winning authors, historians, poets, artists and improvised writing and performance sessions, along with events featuring Bishops, rock stars and politicians.

Highlights of the literature festival at the Southbank centre include the best of the Booker prize, where a distinguished panel of writers talks about which of the shortlist should win, an evening of dirty books where you can hear some of the rudest literary porn ever written, and night with Mark E Smith as and his biographer discuss his life so far.

This year the London Literature Festival embraces literature from many different perspectives. Talking in Tongues brings together the best African writers in London, Bishop Gene Robinson and Ian McKellen present a documentary about the chasm which seperates gay life and Christianity, Refugee Encounters is an evening of London based authors from around the world who explore the reactions and culture clashes of new and host communities.

Fans of graphic novels will be delighted by the presence of Alan Moore at the London Literature Festival, as he will be sharing his opinion on the genre, and the event with Andrze J Klimowski who has adapted The Master and Margarita as a graphic book; while anyone who is in desperate need of new and undiscovered fiction will want to head to the Granta new writing session, where a diverse selection of writers read their contributions from the latest issue of the magazine.
