Whats On
The London Mela is taking place in Gunnersbury Park in West London this year on Sunday 16th August, injecting some spice into the London summer. With a strong turn out last year, this year the London Mela event expects to attract 90,000 people to West London for a celebration of South Asian culture.

About the London Mela
The London Mela event is considered to be the biggest one-day celebration of South Asian culture and creativity outside the Indian subcontinent and is strongly supported by the Mayor of London. Gunnersbury Park where the London Mela event is being held consists of 30 acres of parkland and the area will be hosting seven zones of activities as part of the one day festival. The diversity of the London Mela event makes it ideally suited to Londoners of all ages, backgrounds and cultures.

London Mela events
The diverse range of festivities taking place at the London Mela include a main music stage, an area dedicated to children and families, an area dedicated to comedy, street arts specially commissioned for the London Mela, and a food court offering food from all around the world. Head to the festival for some amazing entertainment and take a look at some Indian and Asian traditions at the same time.

Fusion Music
Hot acts at the London Mela have included some superb musical entertainment from the likes of Taz of Stereo Nation, Mobo Award winning Raghav, and other vibrant and colourful acts. Other artists who have stepped up on the main stage for past events include Rishi Rich featuring Veron and Mona Singh and various other artists that have combined traditional Indian sounds with contemporary beats. There's always home grown British music too, with acts such as Radio 1's Bobby and Nihal as well as Taio Cruz and the Southndpipe Records Crew playing a major part in last year's event. The lineup for the 2009 London Mela event will be announced shortley, so lick back soon for further information.

The London Mela event is at Gunnersbury Park in W3 (nearest tube Acton Town), on Sunday 16th August 2009.
