The London Mela is taking place in Gunnersbury Park in West London this year from 12pm on Sunday 10th August. With a strong turn out last year, this year the London Mela event expects to attract 90,000 people to West London for a celebration of South Asian culture.

About the London Mela
The London Mela event is considered to be the biggest one-day celebration of South Asian culture and creativity outside the Indian subcontinent and is strongly supported by the Mayor of London. Gunnersbury Park where the London Mela event is being held consists of 30 acres of parkland and the area whas 12 zones of activities as part of the one day event. The diversity of the London Mela event makes it ideally suited to Londoners of all ages, backgrounds and cultures.

The diverse range of festivities taking place at the London Mela include a main music stage, an area dedicated to children and families, an area dedicated to performance poetry and open-mic comedy, street arts specially commissioned for the London Mela, a global craft market, giant funfair and a food court offering food from all around the world. Head to the community cabaret area for some amazing entertainment, or pop down to the heritage and classical tent for a look at some Indian and Asian traditions.

Fusion Music
Hot acts at the London Mela have include some superb musical entertainment from the likes of Taz of Stereo Nation, Mobo Award winning Raghav, and other vibrant and colourful acts. Other artists to step up on the main stage for the day include Rishi Rich featuring Veron and Mona Singh. Arun Ghosh will be performing in the Indo Electronica tent, along with various other artists that combine traditional Indian sounds with contemporary beats. There's always home grown British music too, with Radio 1's Bobby and Nihal as well as Taio Cruz and the Southndpipe Records Crew playing a major part in this year's event. The 2008 London Mela event will definitely be one for the music fans.

This year's London Mela event is at Gunnersbury Park in W3 (nearest tube Acton Town). It runs from 12 noon to 8:30pm.
