With over £1 million raised so far by the London Night Hike, this year's midnight stroll through the city of London is set to raise even more. Organised by Maggies Cancer Caring Centres charity in conjunction with the Open House architecture weekend, the London Night Hike is a fantastic opportunity to see the streets of London lit up at night and contribute towards a seriously good cause.

Walking past some of the most impressive and immediately recognisable buildings in the city, the London Night Hike takes walkers on a 20 mile hike around the capital past such architectural gems as Somerset House, Royal Geographical Society, Horse Guards, the IET at Savoy Place, Wellington Arch and Maggie's London Centre and City Hall. Last year, hikers also get to enjoy an exclusive ride on the London Eye which was lit up in green for one night only.

2008 promises to be just as special with a brand new route that takes you past some of the most impressive buildings in London, all lit up for the occassion. From 10pmm onwards and into the early hours of Saturday morning, walkers can see the whole of the city spread out before them in this very special one off chance to walk the city at night with hundreds of others.

Before you set off on the London Night Hike this year, you have the chance to take part in a very special opening party. Set next to City Hall with the stunning backdrop of Tower Bridge, there will be a food market set up on Potters Field for dinner, and you can also bag some high enegry snacks to keep you going throuhg the night.

Maggies Centres offer emotional and psychological support to people suffering from cancer and their families. They have support centres all over the UK and do an invaluable job in helping people cope with their illness. The London Night Hike 2008 is set to beat the previous year's total and by participating or sponsoring someone who is taking part, you can help them reach their target. Not only is this an amazing chance to walk a traffic free hike through the streets of London, but it is a chance to give something to a charity that really makes a difference to thousands of peoples lives.

To take part in the 2008 London Night Hike, you need to raise a minimum of £300.00 sponsorship money as an individual or £1,200.00 as a team.

The London Night Hike party kicks off at 7:30pm, with the walk leaving City Hall at 10pm. The walk takes around 6 to 8 hours, but there is no restricted time limit on completing the event.
