Celebrate restaurants in London
Although once cause for derision amongst food snobs, London’s restaurant scene has now reached sky-high popularity, with plenty of celebrity chefs and Michelin-starred establishments calling the capital home. With everyone from Gordon Ramsay to Michel Roux Jr staking their claim on the capital’s foodie scene, it’s the best place for everything from top quality formal dining to reasonable bistros and cheap eats. Not only that but the capital is absolutely crawling with all different types of cuisines, from local British flavours to far-flung delicacies from foreign countries.
Festival events
At the 2011 London Restaurant Festival foodies can attend a number of events, including a host of unusual activities. Planned events include pop-up restaurants, food talks and a food quiz featuring top London chefs. Free dinners, awards, food themed lectures, parties and special menus on offer in London restaurants are also on the cards.
Unusual events
Even more quirky events include a Gourmet Odyssey on London buses, where diners are served a different course for each route they take. There's also a series of film nights where top chefs are creating three course meals inspired by the screening programme, while the Old Vic Tunnels beneath Waterloo Station are also hosting a pop up restaurant and exhibition.

Support the capital’s restaurants
Events taking place at the London Restaurant Festival will be designed similar to the Edinburgh Festival, with loads of events happening throughout, at various places. The 2011 restaurant festival gives you the chance to support your favourite local restaurants as well as try some new ones – whether you’re in the mood for cheap eats or Michelin stars are on the cards, there’ll be something for all food fans.
Celebrity chefs
Hundreds of the capital’s 6,000 restaurants have signed up to the London Restaurant Festival so far, with many more to still be added. Chefs including Angela Hartnett and Richard Corrigan will be serving up food to diners in the ultra exlusive pop up restaurant on board The London Eye.
