Celebrate the world of film shorts in January with the London Short Film Festival. Held in venues across the capital, the film festival is a chance to catch some of the edgiest and most imaginative short films around.
London Short Film Festival
Previously known as the Halloween Film Festival, the London Short Film Festival has re-emerged for 2012 with ten days of screenings and multi media mayhem for anyone with a love of film, music, visuals and fun.
Wild and wonderful
With screenings selected from an open submissions process, there really could be anything shown on screen during the festival. From kinky comedy shorts to mini documentaries and art house creativity, there is plenty to get excited about.
Live entertainment
Many live music and themed film and visual nights are set to take place during the London Short Film Festival too. Venues taking part in the 2012 festival include the Amnesty Human Rights Action Centre, BAFTA< BFI Southbank, Cine Lumiere, Curzon Soho, Greenwich Picturehouse, Hackney Picturehouse, the Horse Hospital, the ICA, Lomography Gallery Store East London, Museum of London Docklands, Occupy London Stock Exchange outside St Paul's Cathedral, Rich Mix, Rio, Ritzy Picturehouse, Riverside Studios, Roxy Bar and Screen, Shortwave Cinema, Stratford Picturehouse, The Hospital Club, The Lexington, Phoenix Arts Centre, The Screen at RADA and Vibe Live.
Awards Night
The awards night celebrates the best of the shorts being screened at the LSFF, and is a great opportunity for up and coming filmmakers to showcase their creative work. Many of the short films will be on show for the first time; fresh from the filmmakers' laptops and digital devices, contemporary film doesn't get more up to date than these shorts.
Be inspired
For the aspiring filmmakers themselves there are a number of interviews to give a behind the scenes look at the world of short films, as well as workshops and networking opportunities. With so much advice and guidance on hand, many who attend the London Short Film Festival this year could have their work up on the big screen by 2013.
More films, discussion, photography, comedy, screenings and even fancy dress are sure to be part of the mix for the 2012 London Short Film Festival. For full listings of all the events and information on how to book, visit the official website below.
